Well known for his spectacular 280SLs, Brian Peters knows what constitutes a correct Pagoda. We’re pleased to have him aboard as our resident Pagoda expert to educate us about these eminently collectible Mercedes-Benz. In this month’s edition, Brian gives us some tips to spot whether the Pagoda you are looking at (or own!) has its original front fenders and firewall pad.
Successor to the 300SL and the 190SL
While the iconic 300SL roadster and the charismatic 190SL were revered worldwide, as the ’60s unfolded their ’50s era technology was becoming increasingly dated. Mercedes responded with the Pagoda series, a lean design that offered excellent road handling, adequate power and grand touring comfort for two.
