MercedesHeritage.com’s Research Database
SL buyers can save thousands
Evaluating SLs:
We created MercedesHeritage.com for every classic Mercedes-Benz enthusiast to use and enjoy. One of the most appealing sections is our large classified section covering any Mercedes constructed from 1900 to 1973 as well as any SL constructed from 1954-2012.
There are hundreds of SLs for sale on the site but how do you quickly determine which are worth pursuing and which to ignore? We faced the same questions and uncertainty as we purchased and restored over 600 Mercedes-Benz SLs during the last 20 years.
SL Research Database offers Guidance
Now you can benefit from much of what we have learned about these often complicated, always appealing Mercedes-Benz SLs via our clever and informative Research Database.
Database tutorial slide show examples:

Here's an example of what you will find in the database. The slide above is 1 of the 125 frames within the 230/250/280SL Pagoda "Basic Training" tutorial slide show. The thumbs below the large image show the sequence of slides and allow you to scroll forward/backward. Each image is captioned and provides valuable structure/systems/originality information and much more. Knowledge gained from single frames can prevent you from paying $5,000 too much for a 230/250/280SL! There are another 40 informational and unique documents in the Pagoda section alone.

Here's a frame from the 560SL "Basic Training" tutorial photo essay. Again, each captioned slide contains a crystal clear image and description of critical areas of concern for this particular SL. And the thumbs below the large image show the sequence of slides and allow you to scroll forward/backward. This single frame could give you the knowledge to avoid buying a damaged 560SL. There are 98 more educational frames! We created slide shows for 380SLs, 350SLs and 450SLs as well. And you'll find a hundred additional educational links throughout the 107 chassis SL sections.

Am restoring my 1967 250 SL W113 and got to the stage of the re-spray. Am looking for a supplier of a full set of rubber seals for the doors, bonnet, boot, hard top etc – anybody got any ideas for me?
look forward to any response
Colin
If you visit http://www.sl113.org you will find recommendations on who can provide a seal kit. I’d suggest registering/joining and starting with a search on the terms – Seals +Rubber – You can also post a question in the “Body, interior, paint, chrome, and cosmetic items” section for up-to-date suggestions and vendor experience. Good luck!
Hi Colin, you could try http://www.sls-hh.de. They specialize in SLs and have a clever web site with illustrations and prices of most parts for a variety of older SLs. I have only dealt with them in relation to parts for my 190SL and have found them pretty good in most repects: delivery in a couple of days from their site in Hamburg and speaking good English any time I have called them on the phone.
The web site has an English version too, but if you have a smattering of German it will help.
All the best,
Stewart
